Fatigue and The Taxi Industry.

l;ogoIn the recent edition of the NSW Taxi Council’s magazine we read a very article entitled Targeting Fatigue.  Yes the article is excellent in theory but in practice, with respect, come on get real.

Recently it was announced on the news that our State Government appointed some Commissioner for State Infrastructure.  His task is to spend billions of dollars within a certain time frame improving various state infrastructures.  The same person that organised the Sydney Olympics

His spiel was that the money would be spent on education and other community betterment programs etc., etc., etc.,

How much of this will be spent on City rail infrastructure, Bus of Ferry infrastructure, and last but not least the taxi infrastructure?

With taxis in mind, one is  willing to bet will be a fat 0

We are the only transport and first choice transport industry that is available 24/7 and have to exist on a smell of an oily rag and if fortunate a stale hamburger and a weak cup of coffee.

One suggestion would be and here one can see The members of the N.S.W. Taxi Council choke; that he spend those billions to buy up every single taxi plate and then turn the taxi industry into a government run employee organization with proper wages for drivers and decent hours, less fatigue, so they could enjoy real time with their families or some other social activity.

If the NSW Taxi Council were serious about this then the  paragraph above would not be just a pipe dream. Yes  the major issue of taxi drivers is fatigue due to the long hours they are forced to drive, due to poor remuneration and extortionate set PAY  INS in metropolitan areas.  One  thinks the author wrote that article just to fill up page space in their magazine as it is  near impossible to apply its suggestions and still make an honest dollar.  Your comments  are welcome.

Now, when was slavery abolished or was it?
